Writing Rights – Inspired by Malala

Malala champion of children's rights wins the nobel peace prize

As part of the It’s Your Right project we visited Fighting Words. A creative workshop for children and young people to express themselves. One of the talented young authors was Eva who was so inspired by Malala’s story she wrote a poem about it.

You can hear more from Eva and our visit to Fighting Words here

Malala’s story became worldwide attention when the Taliban banned girls from going to school in her hometown in Pakistan. The right to education is one of the basic children’s rights and human rights. In 2012 when she was just 15, Malala was shot for her outspoken views against the human rights violations in her region. Luckily Malala survived and has become the youngest ever winner of the Nobel Peace Prize. You can read more about Malala’s work and advocacy here.
